Identity is rarely a single note.
It is a complex arrangement of heritage, place, and timing.
I founded Tugtog Pilipino not as a teacher, but as a student of my own culture. Caught between the American experience and my Filipino roots, I found that the music of the Philippine Archipelago—rich, diverse, and brilliant—was often lost in transit.
This space exists to dismantle those barriers. Through high-quality solo piano arrangements and the stories behind them, I wanted to create a space for the diaspora and educators to reconnect with a sound that has always been world-class. It’s a tribute to our past and a digital home for our future—reminding us that Filipino music doesn’t just belong in the archives, but should be played and enjoyed in our lives today.

These pieces are an intentional attempt to bridge the gap between where I am and where I come from—a way of honoring my family and the community that brought me back to myself. Ultimately, this is the resource I wish I had: a place where the music is free, the history is shared, and the soul of the Philippines is accessible to anyone with an instrument and a story of their own.
